The Chairman of the Nigerian in Diaspora Commission, Abike Dabiri, has urged Africans residing and doing business in China to continue to demand their human right, she said it was obvious that the Chinese government do not want Africans in their country.
She also urged the Chinese government to respect the rights of Africans, noting that there were many illegal Chinese citizens living in Nigeria, who are not being maltreated by the Government of Nigeria.
The former Nigerian lawmaker was reacting to a question on what the Government was doing to address the maltreatment and discrimination of Africans in China, she said, “The issue of China is not new and I have been to the Chinese Embassy in Abuja many times, putting into consideration what has been happening to Nigerians residing in China.
“I will be very realistic with the issue of Africans living in China…they don’t want African people in China. Some businessmen are stranded in their country but when you want to go back to your home, they don’t allow you. In China, if you don’t have a residence, you can’t get a permit.”
The former Minister continued, “It is very tough for Nigerians in China. the (maltreatment) is still going on and we need to sit down and deal with the issue. There has to be a permanent solution to the issue of black people being maltreated like Animals in China.
“There has to be reciprocity: You need to respect me the same way i respect you, treat me well and i will do the same. Africans living in China should demand their right and obey their laws too but the laws should not be discriminatory against them.”
